Sour Milk Cake
Sour milk cake may not sound exciting, but it tastes fantastic!
We make the basic cake, which in itself is amazing, but you can also choose to cover it with chocolate icing, butter cream icing or similar.
Ingredients
1200ml/42fl oz sour milk
800ml/28fl oz caster sugar
1400ml/49fl oz wheat flour
200ml/7fl oz melted soya margarine
1 1/4tbsp cinnamon
4tsp baking soda
Preparation method
Mix flour, sugar and cinnamon.
Mix the baking soda and sour milk, and mix it together with the flour, sugar and cinnamon.
Finally stir in the melted margarine.
Locate a roasting pan that you rub with margarine, then sprinkle a little flour over the surface, this will make sure the cake will be easier to get out after cooking.
Pour the batter into the pan and spread well beyond.
Bake for about 25 minutes at 180C/350F/Gas 4. Take the cake out and cool it on a grid. Cut the cake into suitable pieces.
The cake can be served freshly baked, or you may choose to wait until it is cooled and then freeze for later.
