Pan-fried Mackerel with Sour Cream Sauce
Grilled mackerel with sour cream sauce is a very simple dish that is quick to make. You can choose to pan fry the whole fish, but we recommend you to just use the fillets.
Ingredients (Serves 4)
4 Atlantic Mackerel fillets
5 tbsp wheat flour
1 tbsp salt
1 tsp pepper
300ml/10 1/2fl oz of sour cream or creme fraiche.
2 tbsp milk
Preparation method
Mix together 4 tablespoons flour, 1 tablespoon salt and 1 teaspoon pepper on a plate.
Dredge each Mackerel fillet in the flour mixture.
Pan fry the mackerel fillets in a few minutes on each side. We recommend that you fry the skin side last.
After you finish pan frying the fillets, put them on warm plates. Use the same frying pan that you used to fry the fish, when you make the sour cream sauce.
Sprinkle 1 tablespoon of flour in the pan and add the sour cream (or creme fraiche). Whisk the sauce and dilute with around 2 tablespoons of milk.
Serve the mackerel with the sauce and boiled potatoes.
This is a traditional Norwegian recipe!
