Chips with Cheddar Cheese Sauce

These chips with cheddar cheese sauce can be used as a side dish for meat main dishes or as a tasty special snack for the football game.

This is an easy dish to make, it tastes great and looks absolutely amazing!

Ingredients (Serves 2)

2 large potatoes
Salt
Pepper
Olive oil

For the cheese sauce:

200ml/7fl oz white wine
sprig fresh thyme
250ml/9fl oz double cream
110g/4oz cheddar cheese

Preparation method

Wash the potatoes, cut them into chunky chips and parboil them.

Place the parboiled chips onto a backing tray.

Preheat the oven to 220C/425F/Gas 7.

Season with salt and pepper and drizzle with the olive oil.

Place the backing tray in the oven and roast for 15-20 minutes, or until they become tender and golden.

While the chips are in the oven, we will make the tasty cheese sauce.

Pour the wine into a saucepan on a high heat and boil to reduce by half.

Then you add the double cream, thyme and cheddar and let it simmer while you stir continuously, until the cheddar has melted.

Put the chips into a serving bowl, pour over the cheddar cheese sauce and serve.

Enjoy!
